Tech giant Google has made an initiative to help millions of Indians who have lost their jobs😥 primarily as a consequence of the Covid-19 pandemic.

It has expanded its jobs app, called Kormo Jobs, to India.

This app will let users search🔍 for entry-level jobs.

Apart from that, it will also help them learn new skills, and easily create a CV📃.

The Details

Google initially launched Kormo Jobs in Bangladesh in 2018🗓️ and expanded it to Indonesia last year.

Google made Kormo available in India under the brand “Jobs as a Spot” on its payment app🤳, Google Pay.

It provided job seekers with opportunities in fast-growing categories such as on-demand businesses, retail🛒 and hospitality🏨.

As per Google, a number of companies, including Zomato and Dunzo have posted over 20 lakh verified jobs👍 on this platform.

Google is now also rebranding “Jobs Spot” on Google Pay as Kormo Jobs in India.

Bigger plans for future!

Google’s decision to bring Kormo to India further demonstrates its growing interest🤑 in grabbing a major share of the job-related search queries.

It may now go beyond entry-level positions to compete⚔️ with Microsoft owned LinkedIn as well as India job portals including Naukri, Shine.com, and TimesJobs.

It will also challenge classified advertising platforms, Quickr and Olx that have dedicated job listings📰 for the job seekers.
